Dr. Space is a remarkable figure who has seamlessly balanced two fascinating careers—one in science and the other in music. In this exclusive interview, we explore his journey, inspirations, current projects, and future aspirations.


Getting Started in Music

Dr. Space's love for music was ignited during his teenage years in Southern California in the 1970s. With legendary rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Aerosmith dominating the airwaves, he developed a deep passion for music. Attending concerts, recording them, and trading tapes expanded his musical horizons and shaped his journey.


Career Highlights and Opportunities

Dr. Space attributes his success to a supportive family, hard work, and a bit of luck. With a PhD in Endocrinology, he built a thriving career in comparative endocrinology and diabetes research. Later, he transitioned into the music world, starting with managing bands and eventually performing with them. He also founded record labels such as Space Rock Productions, creating opportunities to connect with amazing musicians.


Musical Inspirations

Inspired by Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, Tangerine Dream, and 70s Miles Davis, Dr. Space channels his creativity into experimental music. Collaborating with musicians like Jonathan Segel and Hasse Horrigmoe has been pivotal in taking his work to new levels.


Current Projects

Dr. Space is busier than ever, with a range of projects in progress:

  • Øresund Space Collective (ØSC): A new DVD (Ode to a Black Hole) and two albums set for 2025.

  • Doctors of Space: Following the October release of Wisdom of Clowns, a new album, Fusing Your Synapses, is ready.

  • Solo Work: Dr. Space’s Alien Trip: Space with Bass V is mixed and awaiting artwork.

  • Collaborations: Upcoming projects with UMMA, 3rd Ear Experience, and Quasars of Destiny, among others.

Despite his busy schedule, Dr. Space prioritizes rest, ensuring he gets 8-9 hours of sleep every night.

Dr. Space is committed to helping others realize their musical dreams through his professional and affordable studio in Portugal. Dream collaborations include working with Earthless, Church of Misery, and Temple Fang.
