Reviving the Golden Era of Hip-Hop: Devine Carama and Amadeus360's Guardians of the Boom Bap

Emmy-winning Hip-Hop wordsmith Devine Carama has teamed up with heavyweight producer Amadeus360 to deliver a no-frills, all-flavor homage to the golden days of Hip-Hop. Their new collaborative album, Guardians of the Boom Bap, is a tightly packed punch of pure Boom Bap energy—an ode to the era when it was all about beats, bars, and authenticity.
Staying true to the roots, the album’s standout track “The Essence” just got a powerful visual treatment, directed by cinematographer Shooter McGavin. Premiered today (August 1, 2025) on YouTube, the music video is a cinematic stroll through the East End and downtown Lexington, Kentucky—Devine Carama’s hometown.
“The song and video were meant to capture ‘the essence’ of an MC driven by culture, not commerce,” says Carama. “15 years separate those two clips in the opening scene, both with me wearing the shirt of my day job. It encapsulates how long I've been grinding to make a better life for my family.”

Amadeus360, known for his gritty production and East Coast flavor, made serious waves with 2021’s full-length project with Termanology and his 2023 solo banger The MPC Jedi. With Guardians of the Boom Bap, he takes a more focused approach—one MC, one mission.
“I’m a sucker for a real lyricist, and Devine is an animal on the mic!” Amadeus says.
Released June 13 via Soulspazm and available on all major platforms, this project follows the fourth installment of Carama’s acclaimed Kingtucky series. But this isn’t just music for the heads—Carama brings his full self into every verse: activist, youth advocate, professor, author, and always, lyrical truth-teller.
“We want listeners to get that same feeling they got listening to hip-hop in the 90s,” Carama shares. “Just beats, rhymes, and life.”
