Why Make Films for Free?

In today’s society, most people are worried about what they can gain from an experience. Whether it be money, clout, fame, love, etc… We always want something. So why does anyone do anything for free? Filmmaking is a lot of work for every person involved, and definitely not cheap. When making an indie film, there is usually little to no budget. When making student films, the cast and crew are usually not paid. It’s hard to speak for millions of people, but here’s why I find myself doing free work. In the indie world, we find ourselves worried about the art more than the money… the vision. To have a team of people with the same goal, ambition, and vision is a rare high. Work for the sake of art and making something immortal.
